Yinghua stopped classes for four days just to do this one thing.

While ensuring academic excellence for children, Yinghua also places great emphasis on their personalized and diversified development To this end, from August 10th to 13th, Zhuhai Yinghua Cambridge International School held a quality development training program themed "Exploration, Leadership, and Knowledge Seeking" on Fangji Island.
Through participation and experience in the Fangji Island quality development activities, children learned to become courageous explorers, leaders with leadership qualities, and lifelong learners; Teachers also strengthened their teaching effectiveness and enhanced their sense of responsibility and mission Let's review the activities of this quality development training!

On August 10th, after dinner and a short rest, Principal Yang Xiaofeng gave an opening speech, hoping that both children and teachers could gain something and grow during this quality development activity.
After a day of traveling by car and boat, everyone arrived at the long-famous Fangji Island. With beautiful mountains, water, and scenery, I felt that everyone's mood was very relaxed, so the assembly was a little loose just now. But I want to remind everyone here that we are not here for sightseeing, we are here for quality development.
What is quality development? Quality development is a comprehensive quality education that mainly aims at improving psychological quality, and also includes physical fitness and practice. It relies on sports, uses training as a method, and aims at understanding.
Through this development, we hope to achieve the following three goals: cultivate the spirit of exploration, cultivate leadership abilities, and establish a thirst for knowledge. We expect that in 4 days, you will all be reborn and become a new self!
——Excerpt from Principal Yang Xiaofeng's speech

"You are my eyes, leading me through the endless darkness." In the "Wind and Rain Journey of Life" activity, all Yinghua teachers and students paired up, one as a "blind person", covering their eyes with an eye mask, and being assisted by a "mute" to move forward and overcome obstacles; the other as a "mute", unable to speak during the game, could only guide and remind the "blind person" through body language.
When the children arrived at the training ground, they were discussing, worried that they would not be able to complete the task within the expected time, but in fact, the children completed it in less than half the time. Some things seem difficult, but they may not be. By bravely trying, those things that you think are impossible, often have unexpected results after trying.
The Wind and Rain Journey of Life, not only allowed children to understand the spirit of daring to try, at the same time, it also made them realize that there are many difficulties in life, but teachers, friends, and family will always be those who are willing to help them overcome difficulties In addition, children also learned to empathize, understand each other, and be more grateful to the teachers and friends who have helped and supported them.
When you are most helpless, someone helps you, this feeling is really warm. Trust, companionship, and persistence are what everyone needs very much.
——Tommy

It was very tiring, but it increased trust in each other and strengthened team cohesion.
——Steven and Jason

In the "Breaking Through the Encirclement" activity, all Yinghua teachers and students were divided into six teams, each searching for a way out and reaching the 135 highland. In this process, each team needs to make judgments and decisions based on outdoor survival knowledge and understanding of the terrain, then formulate forward-looking strategic plans, and efficiently complete the task through reasonable team division of labor and effective communication.
In this orienteering, the children persisted and worked hard, shuttling through unfamiliar mountains and forests, searching for one target point after another, and finally reaching their destination, harvesting the precious friendship of teamwork, cultivating the courage to face difficulties without fear, and the unyielding and persistent willpower 。
More importantly, children realized the importance of leadership Leaders control the direction and overall situation of the team, and need to have good analytical ability, judgment, decision-making ability, overall view, and authority. In the "Breaking Through the Encirclement" activity, multiple plans can be formulated, which requires the leader to make decisions on the team members' proposals to determine the best solution. Otherwise, everyone will be in chaos and unable to complete the task.
After this activity, my team became more united and more team-spirited. As the captain, it is very important to be serious and responsible. Division of labor, cooperation, discussion, and selection are the biggest challenges I face, but my team and I overcame them.
——Tommy

In addition, children also realize that as a member of the team, they should learn to sacrifice and dedicate, and to communicate actively and take responsibility , which is a prerequisite for a team to successfully achieve its goals.
We need team spirit and to be serious and responsible. Through division of labor, cooperation, discussion, and careful selection, we can achieve victory.
——Dale
A person's life is a continuous exploration of unknown fields, Only by becoming a lifelong learner, actively acquiring new knowledge, and upholding the spirit of challenging oneself and actively practicing, can one grow 。
The cliff rappelling activity is intended to make children understand this point. After learning basic outdoor knowledge and rappelling skills, under the guidance and protection of coaches, children use the natural drop of the cliff, control their own descent speed, and use ropes to descend from the top of the rock wall to the ground.
Although this project doesn't require strict professional skills, it does require a rigorous and practical approach to the knowledge taught by the instructors; otherwise, there is still a risk of injury during the descent. In addition, children must overcome their fear of the unknown and heights, carefully and bravely applying the new knowledge they have learned to reality, successfully conquering the unfamiliar realm of cliff rappelling.
The courage to try and the perseverance to complete the task, the exploration of the unknown, and the thirst for new knowledge and skills are the rewards of this activity.
——Dale
Two girls on the team are a little afraid of heights, but they overcame their fear and rose to the challenge during the cliff rappelling. I admire them for that.
——Tommy
Although Yinghua uses small class teaching with a small number of students, our children come from different cities and have different, even completely different, interests, hobbies, and learning experiences, full of youthful passion and edges. Unconsciously integrating into the inner world of the children, becoming their friends, and then guiding them to establish the correct values is the responsibility and mission of all Yinghua teachers.
The short four-day expansion trip allowed the teachers to better understand how to build effective connections with students and parents, improving and enhancing the relationships between each other ; also better understand the children's voices, and solve teaching problems in a gentler way, achieving a win-win situation for the school, teachers, students, and parents 。
This trip to Maoming was so much fun. It was great to connect with the students and work together in teams to achieve the same goals. We learned a lot about trusting each other and facing fears together. Everyone worked so hard and it made me so proud to be a member of this school. I was able to learn more about our different students' needs and interests so that I can cater to them more efficiently this next school year.
(This trip to Maoming Fangji Island was very interesting. For me, there is nothing better than being able to cooperate with the children and strive towards the same goal! The children and I trusted each other and overcame difficulties together. I am very proud to be a member of Yinghua, because everyone here works very hard! This expansion activity allowed me to understand the children's needs and interests more and more carefully, and allowed me to teach them more effectively this new school year.)
——Charlie, Foreign Teacher
The most impressive part of the expansion camp was the blindfolded crossing on the first night after arriving at the destination. Everyone worried about whether their teammates would be able to do it. But the fact proved that 99% of our teammates, with mutual support and strictly following the instructor's instructions, were able to break through successfully.
This project created a natural trust between children who had no previous connection, between teachers, and between children and teachers. This was an exercise in trust. The overall effect also far exceeded expectations.
——Jack, Teacher
Dear teachers and students:
In just a few days, condensed into the images of you tonight, I heard each team share positive words: trying, taking responsibility, trust, unity, gratitude, seeking truth, and exploration. These words may have been abstract and unfeeling before, but these few days, we must have had different feelings. This experiential learning must be more profound than the teacher's lectures in the classroom. I hope this quality expansion activity can become the driving force for the progress of our Yinghua teachers and students. Finally, let's end tonight's activity with the slogan of the last team: Just do it!
