In the Name of Struggle,
Embrace the Promise of Youth
Respected Teachers, Dear Students,
Good morning!
Last Saturday, we collectively witnessed the glory of the graduation ceremony. Our senior students held offers from their dream universities, their eyes shining with certainty and confidence. Their actions tell us this: success is never accidental. Only through down-to-earth struggle can dreams become reality. Today, I wish to share three reflections with you. May we all, in the name of struggle, live up to our youth and our future.
1. Behind the Dream Offer Lies Day-by-Day Perseverance
Dear students, when we admire our seniors for securing offers from prestigious universities, have we asked ourselves: how did they stand out from the fierce competition?
• It was the silhouette hunched over textbooks under a desk lamp late into the night, solving problems again and again.
• It was the persistence shown during breaks, earnestly discussing challenging questions with teachers.
• It was the courage to grit their teeth and press forward even in the face of setbacks.
"Opportunity favors the prepared mind." Whether it's university admissions, competitions, or the journey of life itself, only today's diligence can buy tomorrow's ease. Right now, some of you may be sprinting towards final exams, while others feel uncertain about your future plans. But remember this: every ounce of effort you exert today is accumulating power for the offers of tomorrow.
2. Summer Break: Overtake on the Bend, or Stand Still?
Students, the call of summer break has sounded! Some have already packed their schedules: summer schools to boost academic skills, study tours to broaden international horizons, intensive IELTS preparation, pre-studying next term's courses… Yet others are still wondering, "What should I do this summer?"
The gap often starts to widen during the holidays.
• If you crave breakthroughs: Use this final week to craft a clear summer plan:
• Identify gaps and solidify weak subjects.
• Explore interests and discover potential paths.
• Commit to reading to deepen your thinking.
• If you're still hesitating: Remember this – time waits for no one; the future belongs to those who act.
3. Exam Season: Experience is Wealth, Reflection is the Ladder
To our G-Level students: This is your first major exam season. Some might stumble due to nerves, others might regret carelessness, but believe this: every exam is an opportunity for growth.
• That question you "saw but didn’t scrutinize" on the paper exposed a lack of thoroughness in revision.
• The sigh of "If only I had another chance" after the exam highlights the importance of consistent groundwork.
There are no do-overs for major exams, but experience is invaluable. Learn from these lessons, adjust your methods, and build strength for future challenges.
To our AS-Level students: The crucial A2 exams this autumn are fast approaching. You must:
• Plan Strategically: Which subjects need retakes? Which require an A* push? Summer is golden time – don't waste it.
• Refine Your Personal Statement (PS): Admissions tutors can't see your sweat, but your PS reveals your soul. Use this summer to reflect on your journey these past 16-17 years. Present a genuine, multi-dimensional, and compelling self.
"When the great roc soars with the wind, it ascends ninety thousand li in a single day." Summer is your stage, your PS is your calling card, and your effort is your sharpest weapon.
Conclusion: The Diligent Will Ultimately Shine
Dear students, this final week of term is both an end and a beginning.
• May you give your all to your finals and plan purposefully for the summer.
• May you gain wisdom from exams and surpass yourselves through challenges.
• May you, in the name of struggle, write the brilliant chapter of your own youth!
Finally, I leave you with this thought: "No step you take in life is wasted; each one counts." May we all, in the days ahead, use effort as our vessel and perseverance as our sail, navigating towards the shores of our dreams!
Wishing all teachers and students a summer that is both enriching and joyful!
Thanks!
Sincerely,
MARK

In the name of struggle, we meet the appointment of youth
Respected teachers and dear students:
Hello everyone!
Last Saturday, we witnessed the glorious moment of the graduation ceremony together. Our seniors, holding offers from their dream universities, had determined and confident looks in their eyes. They showed us through their actions that there is no such thing as effortless success; only down-to-earth hard work can make dreams come true. Today, I'd like to share three insights with you all, hoping that we can all, in the name of struggle, live up to our youth and our future.
I. Behind the desired offer lies persistent daily efforts
Classmates, when we admire our seniors for receiving offers from prestigious universities, have we ever wondered why they stood out from the crowd?
• The figure repeatedly reviewing questions under the late-night lamp,
• The persistence of discussing difficult problems with teachers during breaks,
• The courage to keep moving forward even in the face of setbacks.
Opportunities always favor those who are prepared. Whether it's higher education, competitions, or future life, only by working hard today can we achieve ease tomorrow. At this moment, some of you may be sprinting towards the final exams, while others may be confused about your future academic plans. But please remember: every bit of effort you put in is accumulating strength for future opportunities.
II. Summer Vacation: Overtaking or Stagnation?
Students, the summer vacation has begun! Some have already planned their schedules—summer school to improve academic abilities, research studies to broaden international perspectives, IELTS preparation for high scores, and previewing next semester's courses… While others are still wondering, "What should I do during the summer vacation?"
The gap often widens during the holidays.
• If you yearn for a breakthrough, please use this last week to create a clear summer plan:
• Identify and address weaknesses in weaker subjects;
• Expand interests and explore future directions;
• Maintain reading habits to deepen your thoughts.
• If you are still hesitating, remember: time does not wait for those who hesitate; the future belongs to those who take action.
III. Major Exam Season: Experience is Wealth, Reflection is a Ladder
Grade G students, this is your first major exam season. Some may have made mistakes due to nervousness, others due to carelessness, but please believe: every exam is an opportunity for growth.
• The question on the exam that you "saw but didn't look closely at" reveals the superficiality of your review;
• The post-exam sigh of "If only I had another chance" reminds us of the importance of consistent effort.
There are no regrets in major exams, but experience is valuable wealth. I hope you will learn from your mistakes, adjust your methods, and accumulate strength for future challenges.
AS students, the autumn A2 exam is approaching. You need to:
• Comprehensive planning: Which subjects need to be retaken? Which subjects need to aim for an A*? The holiday is golden time and cannot be wasted;
• Polish your PS: Admissions officers cannot see your sweat, but your PS can showcase your soul. Use the holiday time to reflect on your life experiences from the past 16-17 years, presenting a real, three-dimensional, and warm self.
"A great peng rises with the wind, soaring to 90,000 li." Summer vacation is your stage, PS is your business card, and hard work is your sharpest weapon.
Epilogue: Those who strive will eventually shine brightly
Students, the last week of the semester is both an end and a beginning.
• May you give your all to the final exams and plan well for the summer vacation;
• May you gain experience in major exams and surpass yourselves in challenges;
• May you write your own glorious chapter of youth in the name of struggle!
Finally, I would like to share a quote with you: "There is no wasted journey in life; every step counts." May we all, in the days to come, use effort as our boat and perseverance as our sail, sailing towards the shores of our dreams!
Wishing all teachers and students a pure and joyful summer vacation!
Thanks!
