Survival Skills and Life Resilience

Hello everyone! This is Vincent from DSE Form 4. Today, I want to talk to you about an eternal topic—survival. From ancient humans drilling wood to create fire and fend off fierce beasts, to modern society navigating sudden disasters and workplace challenges, survival is never passive—it’s about the wisdom and courage to actively shape your destiny.

First of all, in the natural environment, the key is to protect the "survival triangle"—shelter, a water source, and kindling. Use natural terrain or simple materials to build shelters, choose flowing water for drinking after it has been treated, master the basic techniques for starting a fire, and maintaining calm judgment is your most valuable asset in desperate situations.

Secondly, in the event of a sudden crisis, calmness and precision are essential. In case of a fire, cover your mouth and nose with a wet towel and escape in a low crouching position; during an earthquake, stay away from danger and evacuate only after the shaking has stopped. When rescuing someone who’s drowning, prioritize using tools to assist from a safe distance. These skills must be memorized ahead of time, ensuring that you can turn potential danger into safety at a critical moment.

More importantly, it’s about the survival wisdom of modern society: root yourself inward and cultivate a lifelong learning mindset to adapt to change; while simultaneously reaching outward, mastering emotional management, building social support networks, and fostering inner resilience to weather life’s challenges.

Listeners, learning survival skills isn’t about preparing for extremes—it’s about fostering a greater sense of security and empowerment in everyday life. May we all embrace the wisdom of survival, turning it into a natural part of our daily routines, respecting nature, proactively managing risks, and summoning the courage to face challenges head-on—so that every ordinary day becomes the solid foundation of our lives.

Thank you, everyone!

Survival Skills and Life Resilience

Hello everyone! I’m Vincent, from DSE F4. Today, I’d like to talk to you about an eternal theme—survival. From ancient humans drilling wood to make fire and escaping fierce predators, to modern society tackling unexpected disasters and overcoming workplace challenges, survival has never been about passivity—it’s always been a proactive journey, driven by a blend of wisdom and courage, where we take control of our own destiny.

First of all, in a natural environment, the key is to protect the "survival triangle"—shelter, water, and fire. Use natural terrain or simple materials to build shelter, opt for treated, flowing water sources for drinking, and master basic fire-starting techniques. Above all, calm and clear judgment is your greatest asset in times of crisis.

Secondly, in the event of a sudden crisis, calmness and precision are crucial. If a fire breaks out, cover your mouth and nose with a wet towel and escape in a low crouch; during an earthquake, stay away from hazards and evacuate calmly once the shaking stops. In cases of drowning, prioritize using remote rescue tools for assistance. These skills must be mastered in advance, ensuring that you can turn danger into safety when it matters most.

More importantly, it’s about the survival wisdom of modern society: root yourself inwardly while cultivating a lifelong capacity for learning to adapt to change; and reach outward by mastering emotional intelligence, building social support networks, and equipping your inner self with the resilience needed to weather life’s challenges.

Thank you, everyone.

Title: Say "No" to Procrastination

Hello, everyone! Today, we’re going to talk about procrastination.

In this presentation, we’ll explore four main topics. First, we’ll define what procrastination is. Then, we’ll discuss its negative impacts on our lives. After that, we’ll examine some of the reasons behind it. Finally, I’ll share strategies to help you overcome procrastination and become more productive.

I. Definition of Procrastination

Procrastination is the act of delaying or putting off tasks, even when we know we should be doing them. It’s a common behavior that affects many people, particularly students.

II. The Impact of Procrastination

Procrastination has a wide range of negative effects on our lives. One of the most common impacts is increased stress. This stress can affect not only our mental health but also our physical health, leading to headaches, fatigue, and even sleep problems.

Another major consequence of procrastination is poor performance. When we scramble to finish tasks at the last minute, we’re less likely to give our best effort. This often leads to lower-quality work—whether it’s a school assignment, a project, or preparing for an exam. Procrastination can also harm our reputation, as others may perceive us as unreliable or uncommitted when we fail to meet their expectations.

III. Reasons for Procrastination

One of the main reasons for procrastination is the fear of failure. This fear can take the form of a lack of confidence in our abilities or a fear of making mistakes.

Another reason for procrastination is a lack of motivation. When a task doesn’t align with our personal interests or values, it becomes easy to put it off.

Poor time management is also a contributing factor to procrastination. When we fail to prioritize our tasks effectively or underestimate the time needed to complete them, we end up feeling overwhelmed and put off starting them altogether.

IV. Strategies for Overcoming Procrastination

To overcome procrastination, several effective strategies can be employed, which relate to the reasons I mentioned in the previous section. Now, I’ll summarize and highlight these tips.

Breaking tasks into manageable chunks is a practical strategy. This approach makes the task feel less overwhelming and increases the chances of actually getting started.

Creating a schedule and sticking to it is another valuable strategy. By allocating specific time slots for different tasks and setting deadlines, individuals can cultivate a sense of accountability and structure. Following a schedule helps resist the temptation to procrastinate until the last minute, ensuring that tasks are completed promptly.

Eliminating distractions is crucial for maintaining focus and avoiding procrastination. By consciously minimizing these distractions and creating a supportive environment for work, individuals can stay focused and committed to their tasks.

Positive self-talk and self-reward are powerful tools for combating procrastination. By consciously reframing negative thoughts and self-doubt, individuals can boost their confidence and motivation.

Conclusion with Ending

In conclusion, procrastination is a common issue that affects many of us, but it’s not impossible to overcome.

Let’s say “NO” to procrastination!

Thank you for your attention, and I hope this talk has inspired you to take charge of your time.

Say "no" to procrastination

Hello everyone! Today, let’s talk about procrastination.

This session will revolve around four key themes: first, clearly defining procrastination; then, analyzing its negative impacts; next, exploring the underlying causes; and finally, offering effective strategies to overcome it.

I. Definition of Procrastination
Procrastination refers to the act of deliberately delaying or putting off a task despite knowing it needs to be completed. It’s a widespread phenomenon, particularly common among students.

II. The Dangers of Procrastination
Procrastination can lead to multiple negative consequences. Most notably, it triggers a surge in stress—stress that not only harms mental health but also causes physical discomforts like headaches, fatigue, and insomnia.

Even more serious is that it leads to impaired performance. Tasks rushed at the last minute often end up being poorly done—whether it’s homework, projects, or exam preparation. Moreover, chronic procrastination can damage one’s personal credibility, making others perceive us as unreliable or lacking in responsibility.

3. Causes
The fear of failure is the primary cause, and this fear may manifest as a lack of self-confidence or anxiety about making mistakes.

Lack of motivation is also one of the contributing factors. When tasks don’t align with our personal interests or values, it’s easy for us to keep putting them off.

Imbalanced time management can also lead to procrastination. Failing to plan task priorities effectively—or misjudging how long tasks will take—can overwhelm individuals, pushing them to avoid tackling their responsibilities altogether.

IV. Strategies to Overcome Procrastination
Based on the reasons mentioned above, here are a few practical tips:

• Break it down: Divide large tasks into manageable smaller units to reduce the initial hurdle.

• Solidify planning: Develop a timetable and adhere to it rigorously, establishing a structured accountability system through set deadlines.

• Eliminate distractions: Actively create a focused environment, shielding yourself from external disruptions.

• Positive reinforcement: Replace self-doubt with positive affirmations, and reward yourself promptly after achieving milestone goals.

Closing remarks
While procrastination is a common ailment among modern people, it’s certainly not unbeatable. Let’s start today—say “no” to procrastination!

Thank you for listening—may you all become masters of your own time.
